I'm Gaby —
nice to meet you.

I'm a South African photographer based in Cape Town, working mostly in editorial, portrait, and brand. I came to photography from the other side — as a model first — which means I've been photographed by a lot of people who didn't quite know what to do with a nervous sitter. That shaped how I work now.

I shoot almost everything on Canon R-series bodies with fast primes, mostly in natural light. I take my time. I don't spray. I'd rather come away with twelve frames I'd hang on my own wall than three hundred that all look the same.

When I'm not working, you'll find me on Muizenberg beach with my dog, drinking too much coffee in small Cape Town cafés, or printing personal work in the darkroom I built into my spare bedroom.
